  St. Monicas has a predominantly African-American Catholic community. I once visited and in 21 years of attending different Catholic Parishes, St. Monicas made me feel more welcome than all the years combined in one visit. Everyone greeted you and upon hearing that my friends and I were traveling, they repeated this great phrase "A Church alive is worth the drive!"
